Lenten Thoughts and What's New with Me

ashley, thanks for all the little blogs. i really enjoyed reading them. i have been so busy with
choir commitments all weekend that it has kept me from rewriting what was
deleted the other day. anyway, thank you for starting this and for
sharing bits and pieces of your life there in virginia.

lent, lent, lent. some years, most years, i look back and think: i didn't really do half of anything
i said i would. other lents i am luckier and am more proud of my progress. i have been told to do just one thing for lent, and i think that is
wise advice for some. i just don't do well with it. i am better off
doing a shoddy job on a few penance then failing on one. strangely, for all my lack of progress, i am always relieved when lent arrives. i just know i need it to examine my life and work on the things that are hindering progress. i bet i am not the only one who has that love-hate relationship with this season.

what's new with me? well, this will be repeat for a couple of you anyway. g is almost eight months now, crawling, standing, babbling. i really like this stage of motherhood - the interaction, the innocence, and the independence. i joined the choir at the shrine we attend in boston. i LOVE it. the girls i sing with are just great, and it is hard work practicing new pieces at home every week and then tossing them on sunday. i had been in need of a social, spiritual, and intellectual outlet, and i found it. also in news, gerard and i are looking for a house, condo, or townhouse. we keep changing where we want to live, away from the city or closer to it. there are pluses and minuses of either option . should we go inexpensive and isolated or a little small but where we want to be? i also still don't feel like we have found a niche here of families and schools at least, but i am starting to think that might have to wait for a while. i really can't wait to have my own place though, paint, update, embellish. maybe by the fall.

anyway, i need to get out and enjoy this gorgeous 70 degree weather new england is having.
have a very, very happy easter, ashley, geoff, heather, julia, and will!

  1. I couldn't agree more about the love/hate relationship with Lent! As difficult as it can be it is definitely a relief to have a solid reason to at least try to improve your spiritual life.

Is G standing on his own? or still 'furniture surfing'? Hope to see you when I come up in a couple weeks (maybe meet half way for coffee?)

Happy Easter to you and your boys and thanks for taking the plunge and writing a post!
